It is advised for plastic drain pan models that if the engine oil plug is removed that it be replaced with a new plug. However, on select model engines the drain plugs are not available separately from the oil pan at this time so if you remove the oil plug you will have to replace the oil pan to get a new plug. Don’t make this mistake.
The Mercedes Dealer I called on yesterday does not have a part # for the drain plug separately so they had to replace the oil pan. Now they evacuate all oil services through the dipstick tube on these models. The plastic drain plug does have a big slotted screw-driver slot to remove the plug but I would caution against it.
If you don’t have a nice oil evacuate let me know and we will show you a couple models for sale.
